New Library Fund Raising Activities

Vendor Fair Planned

The Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library Capital Campaign Committee will hold a Vendor and Crafts Fair to benefit the new library currently under construction in Harrisville Center. The committee is seeking vendors and crafters wishing to participate in the event.

The Fair will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007 from 9AM-3PM at the Burrillville High School on East Avenue. Only one representative from each company will be accepted, and it will be on a first come, first served basis. Cost to display and sell at the Fair is $25, and the Committee is asking each participating vendor to donate an item to be included in a raffle.

Any vendor wishing to be a part of the event should call Wendy Andrews at (401) 766-3642 or email her at wandrews@aol.com to receive an application form. Applications can also be picked up at the Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library in Harrisville.

The entry fee is due at the time the application is submitted. Applications must be received by March 2, 2007.

Cornerstone Cookbook

To begin raising funds for the new library and raise community awareness of the project, the Capital Campaign Committe has decided to create and sell a community cookbook.

This cookbook will be professionally produced, spiral bound, with a color cover and interior illustrations, containing 350 recipe favorites chosen from among recipes submitted by friends and neighbors and folks who work in the community of Burrillville.

The Cornerstone Cookbook will be available as of February 1, 2007, and the cost will be $10.95 each. All proceeds from the sale will go towards the construction of our beautiful new library facility.

Submitting Your Recipes

Each person may submit up to 3 recipes for consideration. The Cookbook Committee will choose among the recipes submitted to fill out the cookbook categories, so if you have a favorite, please let us know!

Download and print a Recipe Form for each recipe you would like to submit, then fill it out carefully. (Note: The recipe form is in PDF format. You will need Adobe's free Acrobat Reader software to open and print it.)

Reservations and Ordering

We anticipate great demand for these cookbooks, and we will begin taking orders soon.

Meanwhile, if you are submitting recipes for the cookbook, don't forget to indicate on the recipe form how many copies of the Cornerstone Cookbook to reserve for you. And if you aren't submitting recipes, you can reserve a copy of the cookbook by mailing a reservation request to Cookbook Reservations, C/O Jesse Smith Library, P.O. Box 511, Harrisville, RI 02830. Please include your name, address, and phone number and tell us how many cookbooks you plan to order at $10.95 each.
