The Summer Reading program is a relaxed and fun way to keep your readers' skills sharp all through vacation.

All participants receive a reading journal, book bag, bookmark, and a detailed description of the program's requirements and schedule of events.

All readers are eligible for weekly prizes and coupons, and they may attend free craft and entertainment programs, too!

Summer Reading Program 2007

July 2nd through August 15th

All kids ages 5 and up are invited to take part in the summer reading program.
There will be reading, entertainment, crafts, prizes and lots more!

Book Buddies Program

Children who will be in grades 1, 2, or 3 in the fall may choose to join the Book Buddies Program, a part of the summer reading program designed to help beginning readers. Each child is paired with an older reading buddy who will share one hour each week to choose books, read together, and do simple crafts.

Kids age 10 and older who like working with younger kids, reading books, and doing crafts, can sign up to be Book Buddies. Information and applications are available at the library.

Sign-up for the Summer Reading Program begins Monday, June 18th.

  • June 18: Sign-up begins
  • July 02: Start bringing in Journals to be stamped!
  • July 05: Program: Keith Munslow's "It's a Mystery" at 6:00 p.m.
  • July 04: Holiday: Library closed for Independence Day
  • July 11: Program: Zoomobile "Creatures of the Night" at 10:30 a.m.
  • July 17: Program: "How do Police Use clues to Solve Crimes?" at 1:00 p.m.
  • July 18: Program: Search Dogs Northeast at 6:00 p.m.
  • July 19: Program: Drummer Annie Geissinger at 6:00 p.m.
  • July 25: Program: Mad Science at 6:00 p.m.
  • August 01: Program: Brunch with Pirates at 10:30 a.m.
  • August 15: Program: Final Party: Greg Cooney at 2:00 p.m.
  • August 13: Holiday: Library closed for Victory Day
  • August 20: Last day to have Journals stamped!
