Barnes & Noble Bookfair
On Monday, December 8th, the Barnes & Noble on Bald Hill Road is having a Bookfair supporting the Exeter Public Library. Copy and paste: http://web.provlib.org/exelib/bookfair2008.html to print out a voucher to bring with you when you shop that day. The Library will receive a percentage of your purchase.
We are also looking for volunteers to donate an hour or two of their time to help wrap presents at the store that day. Please contact Amy, director@exeterpubliclibrary.org, 294-4109, if you would like to help out.

Community Connections Website
There are so many of our library patrons with their own businesses, whether they work from home or from an office. Our Community Connections website allows patrons to advertise on our site in exchange for a donation to the library and encourages you to support the businesses of your neighbors and fellow library users.
The site will be growing and updating rapidly, so check back often. The donations raised from this site will be used specifically to purchase business books for the library collection.

Rhode Island E-Zone
As of July 1st, the Exeter Public Library is part of RI E-Zone. You are now able to "check out" downloadable audiobooks and other digital media from Overdrive. You will need to download some free software before you can download any of the titles. Overdrive works like the physical library - you must use your library card to "check out" materials and will only be able to download that is not currently "checked out" to another library patron. You will have access to your downloaded media for a set amount of time before it expires. In some cases you may need to go on the waiting list for an item. You can download to your computer, transfer to an MP3 player and in some cases, even burn a CD of the material
Unfortunately, if you have an iPod, you will not be able to transfer the files onto it. This is due to the proprietary nature of the iPod software.

Library Elf
If you are someone who likes to keep close track of the library materials you have out or on hold there is an online and e-mail service you may be interested in. You can set it up to send you e-mail reminders about when your items are coming due, see what items are on their way for you and you can set it up to check all of your family member's cards at once!
Library Elf is a website that is not affiliated with the Exeter Public Library in any way, but our library patrons are able to use the service to access their library card information. Our patrons who already use it, find it really helpful.

Here is a description from their website:
Elf is a web-based and email tool for library users to keep track of their library borrowings. Elf is like a personal assistant, whose task is to help with keeping track of what one has on loan from the library.
Designed with the busy or avid library user in mind, Elf is ideal for families with multiple library cards or for individuals who have cards from different libraries. Elf makes it easier to keep track of what's due, overdue or ready for pickup from one or more library accounts.
Users have the option to consolidate their library accounts into one account if they wish. This account is checked everyday and email notices are sent when items are coming due, overdue or when holds are ready for pickup. As well, get up-to-date realtime information by browser.
Recycle your old ink cartridges here
We are collecting empty ink cartridges and old cellphones. When we receive enough, we will send them away to be recycled and the library will receive a check from the Green Library Project. This is a quick and easy fundraiser for us and a great way for you to help your library and your environment.
